Kim's Dad

On Tuesday, Kim's dad had back surgery.

The hospital he is at is about an hour away. The plan was for him to spend three days in hospital after the surgery, then get transferred to a rehab facility where he is to spend a week recovering.

Since the hospital is so far and everyone in Kim's family lives up north with us (We are 5-10 minutes from his parents and both his brothers), Kim decided to book a hotel room across the street from the hospital and stay there with his mom until his dad is released to rehab. This saves having to find someone to drive his mom to/from the hospital every day. She currently doesn't have a valid drivers license, so she cannot drive herself.

So, they headed down there on Tuesday and he stayed with his mom during the surgery. Afterwards, they stayed at the hotel for the night.

The next morning, Kim brought his mom to the hospital, got everything situated there, talked to the doctors/nurses/pain management team/etc. and headed to work. After work, it was back to the hospital for a quick visit and to take his mom for dinner. Then, back to the hotel for the night.

He has been doing this for three days. Hospital, work, hospital, hotel. Repeat.

His dad was supposed to be released today, but last night he had a set back. His heart started racing and he had trouble breathing. A CT scan showed he had a blood clot in his lung. Thankfully, they found it and treated it before things got worse. A scan of his legs showed another small clot.

Now he is scheduled to be released on Monday. So, it's back to the hotel tonight.

Tomorrow night, is the Daddy & Daughter dance. Kim has agreed to take Sasha and she is unbelievably excited. Like, so so so so excited. She has been counting down the days and would be counting down the hours if she knew how.

Kim told his brother and mother that he has to be here for the dance. Like, HAS to. Or this little girl will be completely crushed. And, thankfully, he will get a bit of a break from the hotel/hospital/work routine and spend some time with his little girl. Can't wait to see her all dressed up!

Connor and I have plans of our own, too. I'll share them with you on Sunday.

I'm not sure when Kim will be going back to the hotel, maybe Sunday? Possibly Saturday night, depending on how his dad is doing. Unfortunately, someone needs to stay with his mom at the hotel because she is too nervous to stay there by herself. And I don't know if his brother is able to stay. We'll see.

I'll keep you posted on his dad and promise to post plenty of pictures from the dance.
Have a great weekend!
xoxo
